The BEST Outdoor Family Photo Locations in Central New Mexico
Are you planning a photo session for your family? Choosing an outdoor location can be tough! I have compiled a list of my favorite outdoor locations in the Albuquerque Metro Area to make planning your session that much easier (be sure to scroll to the end to see photo examples!).
Los Lunas River Park
Why it’s awesome:
This park is conveniently located off of highway 6 in Los Lunas, just a short drive down I25 from Albuquerque. The reason I prefer this location as a Bosque photo location over the Open Space parks in Albuquerque is because it is a relatively quiet location and there are far less car break ins and crime. The trails are easily accessible and mostly handicap accessible. This location is beautiful year round, but especially in the fall when the leaves turn to a brilliant yellow.

Why it’s awesome:
Tingley Beach is an oasis in the heart of Albuquerque. It is a mecca for picnic goers and fisherman alike, and it is a calm and tranquil space to sit and enjoy nature. As a photoshoot location, it shines with its beautiful landscaping and lush foliage. Parking can be tricky, but there are multiple ponds and parking areas, so there is usually enough to go around. The walking paths and trails around the ponds are pretty smooth, making it a handicap friendly location, which is perfect for multigenerational sessions.

Why it’s awesome:
El Cerro de Los Lunas is a hidden gem in the New Mexico Desert, located just off of Highway 6 in Los Lunas. It features sweeping desert views and gorgeous golden light at sunset. It is not what I would consider to be handicap accessible, but the trails aren’t difficult for walking. There is plenty of parking, but note that there is not security on site.

Beautiful Desert Views
Near the Main Road and Easy to Get To

Why it’s awesome:
Located in downtown Albuquerque, Warehouse 508 offers an edgy, urban feel with loading docs, graffiti murals, and more. Because it is located downtown, everything is paved and handicap accessible. Also, Warehouse 508 happens to be an amazing youth organization that provides arts programs for Albuquerque’s youth!Bonuses:
