It’s no secret that I am an animal lover. Ever since I was a small child, I have adored and fawned over every animal I meet. Animals and I, we just click, ya know?

As a result, I have quite a few pets. In fact, I joke with my husband often that we are one pet shy of being an animal sanctuary (lol). I have a huge softspot for all creatures great and small, so when my daughter asked if we could get a hedgehog- even though we already had a backyard full of chickens and ducks, a dog, and a tortoise, I just couldn’t say no.

We found our spiky little friend at Petland in Albuquerque. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they had everything we needed to get our little lap cactus off to the best possible start (I highly recommend them if you’re in the market for an exotic pet).

It’s been a year since we welcomed little Harry into our family, and we are so glad that we did.
He has truly been a “pawsitively perfet” pet.
